If You’re Nice, We’re Friends, No Judgments

If you're nice, we're friends

Good evening friends.

The motto is simple, if you’re nice, we’re friends, no judgments.  As you can see Patrick and this little Dinosaur have become friends.  Why ?  Because the Dinosaur is nice.  The fact that this little guy is inanimate is immaterial.  This friendship looks as harmonious as any other friendship looks.

♫♫♫ Winter, Spring, Summer of Fall, all you have to do is call, and Sammy & Family will be there, yes we’ll be there, you’ve got a friend ♫♫♫

Goodnight friends.

Sandy Vander Weele and Weechee

Weeche and Sandy Vander Weele

Written By Sandy Vander Weele

Our story began November 25, 2011 on the way home from the Harbor Springs, Michigan Holiday Tree LightingI was listening to the John Tesh Radio Show.  He started talking about the National Mill Dog Rescue located in Colorado Springs, Colorado and the work they do rescuing and rehabilitating commercial breeder dogs from puppy mills.  Being an advocate of animal rescue for many, many years, I found it so gratifying that a group not only did rescues but rehab these poor innocent creatures.  I didn’t even have my coat off and was on my computer to research the organization. NMDR has a tab “adoptable dogs available.”  I looked through all the dogs and this little face (Weechee’s) hit me like a magnet.  Mind you, I had no intention of adopting a dog.  For a few days, I kept going back to the site, looking at Weechee, reading his biography and I was hooked.

NMDR is over 1000 miles from where I live and has a good policy that all dogs fly in cabin.  We scheduled several flights with Pet Airways and all were cancelled by them. My only alternative was to drive there or fly. I flew out from Detroit Metro to Denver Airport to get Weechee leaving, February 5th(Super Bowl Sunday) early in the morning and coming back mid afternoon.  Southwest heard my plight, waived his fee & gave Weechee’s foster, Sara, a gate pass. She didn’t end up coming by herself to the gate but with a whole camera crew who captured our first meeting and interviewed us for over an hour.  They were from TLC Network doing filming for a new series “On the Fly” which is featuring Southwest Airlines.  TALK ABOUT A RED-CARPET SEND-OFF!  The cameraman and mikegentleman came on the plane as I was buckling up and did another 10 minute interview.

Coincidences? 1.  I wasn’t planning to go to the tree lighting and, if I hadn’t, I’d never heard John Tesh talking about NMDR; 2.  According to his foster, Weechee’s picture was put on the NMDR website the very day I looked at the site for the first time and; 3.   By Pet Airways “bad behavior,” I was directed to Southwest who were so kind to us.  Weechee was meant to be here in his Forever Home & I love him more each and every day.

Weechee has his own Facebook page and together our goal is to be ambassadors for animal rescue.  Also would like to have Weechee trained for certification to go to our local care facilities for the elderly.

Here’s his page; https://www.facebook.com/pages/Weechee/357065564330725?ref=hl

Weechee’s foster mom’s (Sara) husband, Lt. Col Eric K., got killed in Iraq by an IED leaving a wife and 4 children. Sara, in her loss, is filling her heart by being a volunteer for National Mill Dog Rescue as a foster. To honor Sara’s husband, I asked to use the name “Eric” as Weechee’s middle name and she and her children were delighted.

Sammy The Ageless Spirit

Sammy the timeless spirit

Good evening friends.

My boy came to say goodnight.  The little guy will be 10 years old March 14th.  When I first got him I lived on 38th Street and 1st Avenue.  If anyone told me that in 10 years I would be living in Puerto Rico with 5 dogs and a new family, I would have said to those people; “You might want to check yourselves into Rehab”

Sammy & Family has to salute Instagram for connecting us to Vanessa Martinez and Family. And a salute to Social Media as a whole for all our friends from around the world.

From the time he was a baby, I always said; ” Sammy Loves The World”  And all these years later, that notion has stood the test of time.

All those years I couldn’t  straighten out,  he was always there licking my forehead until i was better.  Never failed me.

Yup, It’s Little Patreeko

Mr. Patreeko

Good morning friends,

Little Patreeko wanted to wish everyone a wonderful day.  He’s one happy camper as you can see.  Making him happy makes Sammy & Family happy.

Have a fantastic Tuesday friends.  We will check in this evening.

Kelly and Henry Will Lead Us Out Tonight

kelly and Henry

Good evening friends.

It’s nice to be here with everyone tonight.  Hope you all had a nice day today. Kelly and Henry came to say goodnight. As you can see everyone is getting along just smittenly.

Sammy & Family prays for animals around the world to receive the care our pets do  in the ELS community.  Sadly we know this is not the case for too many animals.  The evidence has been proven over and over again that animals are sentient beings.

Life can be challenging enough for them trying to survive.  The last thing animals need is for people to stack the deck even further against them.  Seems so unfair to Sammy & Family.

No lives will go in vain, no pain will go unnoticed.  Dr. Harp Seal for Sammy & Family.

Goodnight From Leroy

Leroy leads us out tonight

Good evening friends.

Tonight we have a very special visitor to lead us out.  This is Leroy.  He is a member of Claudette Beeson and Family. Leroy is a very sweet kitty and he is very loved.  All cats are awesome, then again, all animals are awesome.

Claudette thank you for sharing his picture a couple of weeks back.  Sammy & Family loves Leroy.  We also want to thank you for making the world a better place, one kitty at a time.

God bless all animals around the world.  Amen.  Dr. Harp Seal for Sammy & Family.

The Movie Rewrite for “Big”

The Movie Rewrite for "Big"

Tonight’s Movie Rewrite is ” BIG ” with Tom Hanks.

Our good friend Linda Robinson stepped up to the stage. I was quite taken aback when I read. This is one very creative gal. So she starts off with a synopsis and then does the Rewrite. Very impressive.

Synopsis;

Big” is a 1988 fantasy comedy which stars Tom Hanks as 12-year old Josh Basking and Elizabeth Perkins as Susan Lawrence. At a carnival, Josh puts a coint into an unusual antique fortune teller machine called Zoltar Speaks. He wishes to be “big.” The next morning he awakes to find himself in the body of a 30-year old man.

He goes back to the plaza where the machine was, only to discover both it and the carnival are gone. With the help of his best friend, Billy Kopecki (Jared Rushton), Josh flees to New York City and rents a room in a flop house and gets a job at the MacMillan Toy Company.  By chance, Josh meets the toy company’s owner, Mr. MacMillan (Robert Loggia at the FAO Schwarz toy store. They play a duet together on the foot operated electronic keyboard. Mr. MacMillan is impressed with Josh and his knowledge of toys, and promotes him from mail clerk to a dream job.  He gets to play with and evaluate toys all day long and is well-paid for it.

Susan Lawrence is attracted to him and a romance ensues. Susan’s jerk of a boyfriend, Paul Davenport (John Heard), is most annoyed by this and is jealous of Josh’s overnight success with the company. Eventually, the pressures of being an adult –holding a job and having a romance with a grown, sophisticated woman– begin to wear on Josh, and he wants to go back to being 13 again. He had celebrated his 13th birthday in New York.

Billy helps him find where Zoltar Speaks is now located, and Josh walks out of a company meeting where he is supposed to present a proposal for a new line of toys. Susan knows something is wrong, and runs into Billy who tells her where Josh is. Josh finds Zoltar Speaks and inserts the coin into the machine and wishes to be a kid again. Susan finally believes what Josh has been trying to tell her for awhile…that he is just a 13-year old kid. He asks her to put in a coin and wish to be a kid and come back with him, but she refuses. Instead, she drives him home and as he walks away from her car, he turns back into the boy he actually is.

The Rewrite Begins now;

Susan does insert the coin into Zoltar Speaks and at the car, they both turn into children again. Coincidentally, Susan’s parents recently moved about four houses down from Josh. While Josh reunites with his parents, she visits hers, and tells them the incredible story. She sends Mr. MacMillan a note and tells him not to worry; that she is fine but had to go away, and she will see him in about 10 years.

Susan and Josh finish growing up together, and are inseparable childhood, high school and college sweethearts. Both do well at college, and upon graduation, they marry and both go to work at MacMillan Toy Company. Mr. MacMillan is about ready to retire, and Josh and Susan are able to buy the company, which becomes great and famous throughout the world.

Part of the reason they are so successful is that they pay no attention to statistical analysis, but only manufacture toys which are fun for the children who will play with them. They are philanthropists and make it their mission to see that eve5ry child gets at least one toy for Christmas, and that every baby has its own teddy bear. Because their toys are innovative and take advantage of emerging technology they attract the interest of other fields. NASA uses some of their designs in sleek and smaller spaceships which greatly reduces the cost of space travel, and eventually, tourists are able to choose whether they want to vacation on the Moon or on Mars. Surgeons use their miniaturization techniques and make great advances in microsurgery.

Josh and Susan have five children, most of whom turn out to be leaders in their chosen fields and great humanitarians. One of them finds a cure for all forms of cancer. Another becomes president of the United States. A third becomes a famous writer. The fourth becomes a world renowned veterinarian, and invents a pill that when taken by a dog or cat, immediately sterilizes them, with no side effects. The eventual result of this is that the unwanted pet population is reduced to zero, puppy mills are put out of business, and every available dog and cat is in a safe, loving home. The fifth child becomes a well-known home builder and discovers a way to build homes with minimal impact to the environment, energy efficient and they cost about one-fourth of what a home normally costs, but are 10 times better, because of his construction methods.

Oh…and Susan’s old boyfriend stays with the company, but he is demoted to a position in the accounting department and handles accounts payable.

The End……The Movie still would’ve been great.
