International Day of Happiness 2015

International Day of Happiness

Good morning friends.

Today is “International Day of Happiness”  —  How awesome that it lands on a Friday.  That’s a double dose of happiness.  So I searched the best quotes in the past of the “International Day of Happiness” all morning to find the best ones.  I will share three of them.

1.  Happiness is a warm puppy.  — Charles M. Schulz —

2.  Happiness is like a kiss. You must share it to enjoy it.  — Bernard Meltzer —

3.  Sanity and happiness are an impossible combination.  — Mark Twain —

And with all that, Happy International Day of Happiness and Happy Friday.

Cindy Tang and Sammy

Good morning friends.

Say hello to Sammy & Family’s great friend Cindy Tang.  Cindy is from Hong Kong and when she was visiting NYC, she was kind enough to come see us.  This was a real treat for Sammy.  As you can see Cindy and Sammy hit it off right away. This picture is from October 2012, wow.  What a journey its been since then.

We just heard from Cindy last week during Sammy’s birthday Marathon.  It was great to hear from her again.  She’s a real nice person and Sammy & Family is always wishing her the best in life.

Happy Throwback Thursday.

Tonight We Pay Tribute to Peanut a Fallen Angel

Rest In Peace Peanut

Rest in peace Peanut

Goodnight dear friends. We hope that your day was a beautiful one.

Tonight we pay tribute to an angel, named Peanut. Our dear friend  Phyllis Black Wholihan has written to us and honored her baby very beautifully in the letter she sent us. Her sweet Peanut crossed the rainbow bridge just this past January.  Her heart is filled with love for her baby, and she misses her so deeply.

Here is some of what Phyllis wrote.

“Peanut was a mini schnauzer, and  an amazing friend and companion. She came into my family’s life in June of 2001, when my daughter Caitlin and I  rescued her from the pound, at the age of  4 or 5 years old, . My husband wasn’t sure about  a little dog, since he always had large dogs growing up,  but Peanut changed his mind when she jumped into his arms and kissed his face. From then on he was hooked!!!

She loved to go on walks and little trips with us , Peanut  was always at the family get togethers and loved people !!! When my mother-in -law was in a nursing home, we took Peanut . She became  great therapy for a lot of the older people there. She had her own board  on Pinterest; ” The Adventures of Peanut”,  where you could follow her on her walks and travels, with her and her friends !!! Her last post on Pinterest (with the pic of her silhouette standing on a rock with the clouds behind her) :  “I’m on my final adventure !!! This one I have to take by myself !!! My mom & dad are crying right now because they are so sad that I have to leave !!! But I am going to see my pals Max, Skip, Diesel, and Cooper !!! I can’t wait !!! We will run in the yards like we used to … Chasing squirrels and each other !!! I love and will miss my mom, dad, Caitlin , Sam, Brucey, & Grandma so much !!!! Thank you for the wonderful life you gave me !!! I LOVE YOU, Peanut.”

We lost a big piece of our hearts that day, January 14, 2015. In her memory we have adopted another little girl, a 6 year old schnauzer-doxie mix, who needs lots of love and understanding and she is getting all that and more. Her name is Gracie,  and she is learning to love and play like she should have when she was a little puppy.”

What a beautiful tribute Phyllis has written, directly from her heart. We send our love out to her, and to Peanut, who meant so much to so many. We know that Peanut is running happy and free, in a world more beautiful than any of us could ever even conceive of.  She missed her family very much,  but feels no pain, only joy. Until they all meet again, and are together forever.

No lives will go in vain. No pain will go unnoticed. Amen.

Love from,
Jessica Lee Smith,
For Sammy & Family

Happy 13th Birthday Hannah

Happy 13th Birthday Hannah

Good evening friends.

Tonight we have Hannah leading us out.  Today she turned 13 years old.  God bless her.  Hannah is a member of our great friend Marilyn Miller and family.  She is an Italian Greyhound and so is her sister Misty, also part of the Miller’s family.  The Millers adopted both of them in December of 2011 from an Italian Greyhound Rescue in Arizona.

In 2013 Hannah became ill with hepatitis, fortunately is was discovered early and is under control.  Nonetheless she is on 4 medications a day and will be for the rest of her life.  With that said Hannah appears to have made a complete recovery.

Its nice to know Hannah and Misty are so loved and cared for.  Marilyn is a major friend to the animals, and it makes Sammy & Family happy knowing these two beautiful dogs are in the best hands they could be.

The world can be overwhelming when you think of all the hardships out there, its easy to feel defeated sometimes.  I try to remind myself, I cant change the world, but i can change my world.  And Marilyn Miller did just that for Hannah and Mitsy.  When Marilyn rescued them that didn’t change the world, but it changed the world for Hannah and Misty.  And that’s all any of can do.  Sammy & Family thanks the Millers for giving their two dogs the life they deserve.

Signing off from Puerto Rico on day 66, Dr. Harp Seal for Sammy & Family.

Divergent Travelers

Good morning friends.  Meet Lina and David, a married couple from Wisconsin, USA.  They’re are seeking great adventures traveling the world.  You know we hear the slogan a lot; “Livin the dream” and most of the time its just that, a slogan we refer to.  But Lina and David are literally living the dream.

They have both been world travelers since 2001, solo and together.  Between the two of them they have visited over 30 countries.  Wow, that is impressive.  After there honeymoon in South East Asia in 2010, they had been bitten by the travel bug.  After Pondering back and forth over the next 3 years, in 2013 they decided to give up the traditional life and seek adventures all over the world.  That is seriously impressive.  How many of us want to do that but don’t ?

We are seeking life’s greatest travel adventures, new cultures, new faces, new cities and new lands in the process.

Why is The Good News Channel so Compelling ?

GNC and Scott

Good morning friends.

Sammy & Family has landed some great features for the next few weeks on The Good News Channel.  We are excited to show those features to our ELS family.  I want our friends from around the world to know I’ve always dreamed about conveying news through story telling.

After 20 years of being tuned into financial news and Geopolitical news, I wanted to break stories with no pre determined agenda behind them.  I wanted to hear news from people like us, the unspoken experiences, dreams, passions and thoughts that never get heard.  The major networks send reporters into the field to get the news they want them to get.

Through my entire life I was always interested in the news that came from all of us.  Meaning from my friends, family and animals around me.  The fact that it never made its way to the media doesn’t mean it was not news to me.  That’s why I am so passionate about The Good News Channel.  Its because the news comes from all of us.  And now we have a platform so that our news doesn’t go unspoken or unheard.

If you have Good News or Positive stories you want featured on The Good News Channel, contact Scott Smith.  His email address is; smith7024@yahoo.com.

Or you can enter Good News or positive blurbs on The Good News Ticker.  Consider it like a wheel of Positivity. Remember, even just one thought or positive news item we share might make the all the difference in somebody else’s day.  That is how we make the world a better place, one person at a time.

Father and Son

Father & Son on Bike

Good morning friends.

Me and my boy were rocking this motorcycle at the mall the other day.  This was such a blast you have no idea.  The onlookers were going crazy for Sammy.  As for me, the onlookers were like what the hell is that guy doing with a 10 pound Pomeranian on a motorcycle in the mall ?  He’s 45 years old for Pete’s sake. Lol.

But we all know Scott Smith’s mission; he just wants to be happy.  Oh, and of course handing out frozen snickers on the beach to complete strangers talking about light and breezy stuff.

Have a great Tuesday friends.

Rasmus and Sammy, two pals on the town

Rasmus and Sammy

Good evening friends.

As you know the SammyThon was just this past Saturday, we wanted to make sure everyone’s birthday wishes and pictures were seen.

This is Sammy & Family’s great friend Rasmus from Sweden. He wished Sammy a Happy Birthday on Instagram. We met Rasmus and his family back in March of 2013 in NYC. They are a really nice family. Very good people. I remember when i met Rasmus, I had said to my family what a mature young gentleman he is. Him and Sammy clicked right away.

Sammy & Family thanks Rasmus for his birthday wishes to Sammy. We hope we get to see this nice young man again. People like Rasmus really do make the world a better place.
