Sammy & Family saying Goodnight on May 6th, 2015

Starry Night
Good evening friends.

It’s nice to be with everyone.  Day 116 here in Puerto Rico.  It’s pretty much sunny here everyday.  Kind of like a scene out of that movie “Pleasantville” a while back.  And pleasant is good.  Of course you have to get used to a 4 foot Iguana greeting you in the garage from time to time. Overall their harmless, they are more scared of you then you are of them, i think.

We hope everyone had a great Wednesday.  Sammy wanted to come say goodnight to y’all. This picture reminds me of that song ♫♫♫ Starry, starry night ♫♫♫

Friends we want to thank everyone who has have shared their pets with us for Thoughts & Prayers at night. Everybody is still welcome to share their pets for the evening posts.  Consider it an open invitation.  We don’t want to just talk about our pets.  This is a “We” community.

OK, before we sign off, mental health tip 101; If you feel down, don’t listen to music by “The Carpenters”

Peace out friends.  Singing off from Puerto Rico.  Dr. Harp Seal for Sammy & Family.

Tutay and Poochie from the Philippines

Tutay
Good evening friends.

We have two very heart warming stories from owner and our friend Rochelle Santos-Sta Ana. Rochelle and Family are from the Philippines, but Rochelle now lives in the UK with her husband since 2013.  Listen to how she describes her two angels, Tutay and Poochie.

She is our little angel, Tutay.  We have her in our family since she was 4 months old, she was sickly then that’s why we are very happy that now at age 7 she is a very healthy and happy dog.  I consider her and my other angel as my sisters because I am an only child.  I am their “Ate” (that’s how we call elder sister/s in the Philippines) :-) Tutay and I have been inseparable for 6 years until I left the Philippines to be with my husband here in the UK in 2013.  It really really breaks my heart to leave her, but I find consolation knowing that I will be leaving them with my mom and dad who loves her and my other dog, Poochie as much as I do.  Tutay is a very sweet and loving dog.  She is quiet and shy.  A spoiled baby though :-) We cannot imagine life without her and Poochie They bring so much love and joy to our family.  I miss her everyday though I get to see her daily, morning and night, thanks to facetime and skype :-) I am so excited to see her this Christmas when I get home to the Philippines.  We love her so much.

Poochie 1
This is my other angel, Poochie. I also hope you can have her in your Thoughts and Prayers ❤️

She is with us since she was 3 months old. We got her when I was about to leave for UK, I fell in love with this baby the moment I saw her.  Unlike Tutay, Poochie is a very playful dog but she is as sweet and as loving as Tutay.  Just like Tutay, I was heartbroken when I left her in 2013.  She was just so little then.  I miss her everyday and we all love her so much too. They are my angels.  Seeing them even just thru facetime/skype brings so much joy to me especially when homesickness kicks in.  Their love is truly unconditional.  I always pray that we can all be together again soon.

From our family, Thank you very much and God Bless you and your family always.

Rochelle thank you for sharing Tutay and Poochie with us.  That was a really nice story about each of them. We hope you will all be together again soon as well.

Signing off from Puerto Rico on day 115, Dr. Harp Seal for Sammy & Family.

Andrew Cotton; I love my family and I love to surf

Good morning friends.

We are very happy to feature Andrew Cotton on The Good News Channel today.  You probably remember him from last year surfing one of the biggest waves in history in Nazare Portugal. Andrew is no ordinary 35 year old man.  Most people hunker down at home when a storm is coming.  But that’s when Andrew heads out and comes alive. You might think of him as some sort of storm chaser, but its different in the sense that when he finds a storm, he runs out into the ocean to surf waves the size of skyscrapers that many times come crashing down on him.

Biggest wave surfed ever in Portugal

Probably the most publicized wave I’ve ever caught  that day and it was giant. Biggest, scariest waves I’ve ever seen. We surfed for 4 hours, dodging peaks and trying to get in position and I only caught this wave.

What I liked most about Andrew after corresponding with him and reading up on him is his attitude.  He is extremely positive.  One quote of his really caught my attention in an interview he did with Mpora.com in April of 2014, he said; “Surfing doesn’t revolve around getting a good sponsor. It revolves around you as a person, it’s how you treat your surfing and your goals.” It’s that same attitude that helped him push through the doubters over the years.

After several knee injuries, people said its time to give up surfing. Andrew didn’t see it that way, it just meant he had to train even harder.   Then when he had two kids, people would say to him; “It’s time to grow up and get a real job.  But to Andrew this was a real job, the dedication and sacrifices he’s had to make to get where he is goes head to head with any so called “real  job.”

Team Cotton

It all starts with Team Cotton, Honey my daughter, Ace my son and Katie my wife. This was at Woolacombe in North Devon close to where I live on our 2 minute beach clean. Great little habit to get into and doing our little bit to keep the beach litter free. Check out;  http://beachclean.net/

He started surfing when he was 7 yrs old growing up on the North Devon Coast of the UK.  Ever since then, catching waves and being around the ocean was his life.  At the age of 25 Andrew needed to start earning consistent money and trained to become a plumber.

Cotton 4
Probably the best wave I ever caught in Ireland back in 2012. It got me to the final 5 of the WSL big wave awards which held in LA, unfortunately I lost out to Garrett McNamarra’s wave at Nazare in Portugal where I was the one who towed him into that wave.

After sometime he realized the 9 to 5 work life was going to keep him away from surfing for too long and maybe even for good.  That was something Andrew was not willing to do.  He was meant to be a surfer, a big wave surfer

Squirrels need love too

A squirrel named Anna

Good evening friends.

Tonight we have a very special guest leading us out.  This is Anna the Squirrel.  She is a member of our friend Rose Chandler & Family.  Anna was a baby Rose got from The Washington DC area after the state rehabber had to many on her hands. So she called the VDGIF Hotline to see who could help take some in.  Rose named the squirrel Anna in memory of a very closed friend of her’s who recently passed away named Anna Hunt.  Rose describes this woman as sweet and had a heart of gold.

Anna trusts Rose very much, so much so she’ll eat peanuts out of her hands.  And when Anna the squirrel feeds herself, sometimes her hands become shaped like a heart as you can see in this picture.

Rose Chandler is a major friend to animals.  She rescues and takes care of dozens and dozens of animals at a time. Sammy & Family thanks Rose for making the world a better place  many animals at a time.

Dr. Harp Seal on Call for our friend Laurie Nelson

Dr. Harp Seal for Laurie Nelson

Good morning friends.

Dr. Harp Seal here on call for our friend Laurie Nelson.  Laurie is having total knee replacement surgery tomorrow and wanted to make sure Dr. Harp Seal could be present.  Knee replacement surgery is a big deal as we all know, it can be painful and takes a fair amount of time to recover and rehabilitate.

Lets keep Laurie in our thoughts & prayers for tomorrow and wish her a quick bounce back to normalcy.

And remember friends, “Today is just another happy Monday”

Have a great day.

Shelby gone, but never forgotten

Paying Tribute to Shelby who passed 5 years ago from May 1st

Good evening friends.

Tonight we pay tribute to Shelby who passed away 5 years ago as of just two days ago on May 1st.  Shelby was a member of our great friend Valerie Mcguigan & Family.  Valerie was saying it still feels like it was just yesterday.

Nonetheless life moved on and Valerie carried on.  As we all know today she has two living angels by her side, Smudgey and Bunny whom you’ve all seen a couple of times this last years.  Smudgey even knew Shelby for a year.  Bunny was adopted about a year ago and now the Mcguigan family is complete again.

They say there’s  no better way to honor your fallen angel then to bring a living one into your home again.  Valerie & Family lead by example with respect to that saying.  Sammy & Family wants to thank Valerie for making the world a better place, several animal at a time.  And tonight we call out to Shelby,  and remind her she is not forgotten and she too made the world a better place. Rest in peace Shelby.

No lives will go in vain, no pain will go unnoticed. Amen. Dr. Harp Seal for Sammy & Family.

Why is Sunday called Sunday Funday ?

Friends, you can listen to audio right here or you can read the post right below the audio.

https://soundcloud.com/dr-harp-seal/my-recording-171

Good morning friends.  Thank you for stopping by.

Today’s feature is why is Sunday called Sunday Funday ?  I have given this a lot of thought over the years. I really love Sundays and I think understand why it’s  such a fun day.

Mon through Friday its, work, work, work, Saturday’s we catch up on personal responsibilities, but Sunday’s are the mornings we love most,  its the one morning we let imagination in the door and back into our lives.

On Sunday’s we get to be us again, the people we set out to be from the very beginning. Now is there a lot of freedom in that or what ?

The Movie Rewrite for “Rocky 3”

Rocky 3 movie rewrite

Did you ever wish in the movie “Rocky 3” that Mickey did Not die “

In the rewrite, after Mickey passes away, Rocky is unable to deal with it. He didn’t think that time would ever heal him either. He needed some hope and to know that one day, he and Mickey would meet again.

At that moment, a bell when off in his head. Rocky remembered that when Ted Williams, the legendary baseball player, passed away, his family had Ted’s body frozen cryogenically. Crazily enough, Rocky decided to have the same thing done to Mickey.  The year was 1982. Fast forward 33 years to 2015, Rocky is now 64 years old. After all those years, not a day goes by when he doesn’t think of Mickey.

On his way home from work one night, Rocky was reminiscing about his famous fight with Mr T.  — While in heavy thought, he goes to call his wife and subconsciously dials Mickeys old number instead.  Micky had accidentally been frozen with his Very Rare Motorola cell phone only for VIP’s  while Rocky was was champ). The phone was left on vibrate at the time of his death. In a fluke electrical surge, the phone began vibrating and cracked the ice in a thousand pieces. Mickey fell right to the floor. Next thing you know, at 112 years old, Mickey stands up with the body and energy of a 25 year old man.

The cryogenic facility suddenly realized they didn’t need to wait for a Medical Breakthrough; it was actual time being frozen that restored a human being to normalcy. Meanwhile, Mickey with his new found youth, goes back into boxing with Rocky as his 61 year old trainer. He then goes onto becoming the Heavyweight Champion of the world at 112 years old and only 89 pounds.

Needless to say, Ted Williams’s family was ecstatic about the news regarding this new medical discovery and what it would mean for them, not to mention Cryogenics as a whole.  The Williams family Had Ted immediately had Ted removed from the ice. . Ted Williams also returned to his roots by going into the baseball business. Teds motives were different then Mickeys though, he actually found baseball very boring.  So this time around Ted was going to try to close the sport down for good. The End… The movie still would’ve been a great.
