Waking on the morning gift of Saturday, June 20th, 2015

The question of the day is what do i want to do today ?

Good morning friends.

You gotta love Saturday morning, its like: “Should i get up now,or just keep resting, or have pancakes and then go back to sleep ?”  That’s pretty much the depth of a Saturday morning over here.

Day 160 in PR today.  I am so Puerto Rican now its basically indisputable.  Puerto Rico has a drought going on, so one day we have water one day we don’t.  Sounds nuts right ?  But these are the kinds of things that happens when you live on island.   It does pose the question however; how the hell did Puerto Rico run out of water being completely surrounded by the Atlantic Ocean ?   For me this news is not that bad because the only thing i hate more then showering, is showering.   Before all the “Gross” remarks, if water is running i do shower, meaning like in NYC, i took a show everyday.

OK, two positive notions for the day.

1. Someday’s you have take the complete other side of what you are thinking.  Like today for example, the water goes off at 9 am, So i say to myself, ” get in the shower quickly”  — But because today I will take the other side of what I”m thinking, I’m not going to do that.

2. A great question to ask yourself on the weekend is; “What do I want to do today, versus what do I have to do today?”

Have a great Saturday friends.  Check in with you tonight.   Sincerely, Scott Smith

Welcome to the weekend, the dust is cleared

Scott and his blessings

Good evening friends.

Welcome to the weekend. Friday showed up right on time as usual.  I guess Friday has telepathy or something.  I hope everyone had a great day. If you didn’t, at least its over. Remember, better times are right around the corner. Let’s stay focused.

Remember someone somewhere has felt just like you do and got to a better place, and why shouldn’t that happen to you ? Maybe it will and maybe you will be at a better place starting immediately.

OK let me get into the mushy stuff for a moment, which at this points is just nauseating already, Vanessa is the greatest wife on Earth.  Anyone who loves my boys as much as i do is my girl.  Obviously her rocking body might throw a little confusion into my analysis.  But aside from the sexiest, hottest, rock-ingest body ever, she is my soul mate.  I think the only one that loves animals more then me is her.

If God said to be me; ” Scott i threw you a brake meeting Vanessa, so now what are you going to do for me?  Well that would be an easy answer, my answer is ” Anything”    I believe the almighty’s response would be; “make the world a better place for animals and animal loving people”   —  My response would be; “Done”

OK, enough of the mushy narcissism, lets close with three positive notions;

1. When someone says to you; “this is how I see life should be”   — My response, “that’s a great outlook, I just want to be happy, good luck to you sir”

2. I don’t want to be right, I want to be happy, but sure, If i can be happy and right, yes, I’ll take that alternative everyday.

3.  I thank God for blessing me with my 5 dogs, Vanessa, the cutest 47 year old on Earth, and my ELS family.  Thank you to my higher power, I don’t understand why I am so blessed, but I’m so thankful for the blessings and I accept them with gratitude and happiness.

Kelly and Sammy and TGIF

Kelly and Sammy, TGIF

Good morning friends.  Sammy & Kelly illustrations some togetherness here.  Friday showed right on time as usual. Friday is like a genius or something, always so timely.

Let’s kick this morning off with two positive notions;

1. There is a good chance today will be a great day.

2. What will I give life back today for this gift given to me today ?  A good attitude, or a not so good attitude.  Things to think about.

Have a great day everyone.  TGIF

Sammy & Family calling it a night on June 17th, 2015

Goodnight from Henry & Family on June 17th, 2015

Good evening friends.

Hope everyone had a nice day today.  If you didn’t, take it easy on yourself, things could get better starting as early as tonight.  Big sleeps are important, sometimes a great sleep ends up being the solution.

Life was good today on June 17th, 2015.  It didn’t have to be, thank God that it is.  I repeat that a lot because I don’t like not knowing where I am in the forest.  What i mean by that is many people today probably said, “wow June 17th already, feels like Memorial Day was just yesterday”  By the way there is nothing wrong with that, I’m just not comfortable with weeks disappearing at a time without checking into each and every day.

Got some happy upbeat things coming for our animal loving friends around the world.  Still in the works, so that’s all i can right now, I’m sure everyone is at the edge of their seats like when they first saw “Jaws” or something, lolol.

I saw a Bill Murry quote recently i wanted to share, ” I’m suspicious of people who don’t like dogs, but I trust a dog when it doesn’t like a person”   How simple and brilliant is that ?

Lets close with two positive notions tonight;

1. When I wake up tomorrow I will be a day closer to whatever is bothering me not bothering me anymore.  Time heals all wounds.  Even if you cannot heal yourself, time will heal you for you.

2. Just because I was like that, doesn’t mean I have to stay like that. I’m defined by the right here, right now.  What’s done is done, but what’s now is now and they don’t have to be connected.

Wanderlusters

Good mornings.  We have a fantastic story about a couple traveling the world as House Sitters. Incredible adventures by two really nice people.  Charli and Ben show us you don’t have to be wealthy people to live a rich life.  How true that is. Let’s here what they have say and see their adventures below.

charli-ben-tekapo-daisyOur time in New Zealand encompassed 18 months, an epic road trip in a caravan, and five house sitting assignments. From the Bay of Islands to Stewart Island we soaked in all that this amazing country has to offer. I’d dare to say NZ stole my heart, there wasn’t a day that I didn’t wake up to a spectacular view.

In 2010 we made the decision to live a life less ordinary and six months later, after much downsizing and guide book consulting, we embarked on an undefined period of travel.

honolulu-aerialFlying over Honolulu in a tiny prop-plane en route to Molokai was one of the most exciting flights we’ve taken. Seeing the city from above was surreal, we hadn’t envisaged quite so much concrete in paradise but the urban jungle on Oahu was quickly forgotten after we landed in  the real Hawaii.

We embrace every opportunity for adventure and have been fortunate to experience adrenaline highs in six different countries to date. Travel has enriched our lives to such an extent that we’ve no plans to return to the average existence we once knew.

barbados-green-monkeyOur neighbors, the Green Monkeys in Barbados were a funny bunch. Every evening they’d come and pick the flowers from the Royal Poinciana trees in our garden, and they didn’t offer us any! How rude!  lolol.

If I told you that over the course of the last four years I’d not spent a penny on rent, you’d probably assume that I was still living with my parents or sleeping on a park bench.

wanaka-kayaking-wanderlusters-comA day of paddle powered adventure on Lake Wanaka is a must for anyone visiting New Zealand’s south island. I could almost hear the beating heart if the indomitable landscape that surrounds the lake.

The reality is quite the opposite. Over the last four years I have been living rent free and travelling the world as a house sitter. Along with my partner Ben I have lived in nine different countries and 27 different properties. We’ve looked after alpacas and deer in New Zealand, walks dogs along Caribbean beaches, and cared for cats in one of the world’s most expensive cities.

Ben in New York Leaving Oceania behind us we flew to New York for a short layover en route to our house sitting stays in the Caribbean. It offered a stark contrast to the vast landscapes of New Zealand, but as ever the change was welcome, and we took the opportunity to sample life in the Big Apple.

House sitting abroad has enabled us to explore the world and live like locals while dramatically reducing the cost of our travels. So often we talk to people who tell us ‘we’d love to do what you do, but we can’t afford to travel’, our reply is always ‘you can, why don’t you give house sitting a try?”

Costa Rica Beginning our adventure in Costa Rica we spent hours just chilling out with this green iguana. He was content to relax in the shade of a tree while the midday sun beat down overhead. We feel in love with the country’s incredible wealth of biodiversity as we traveled around house sitting and exploring for eight months.

We are not wealthy people but our lives are rich thanks to the opportunities we secure through house sitting. We live simply and spend our money wisely, but we live fully and enjoy each day.  Checkout the Wanderlusters Facebook page; https://www.facebook.com/Wanderlusters?fref=ts

charli-hiking-tongariroHiking the 19.5km Tongariro Alpine Crossing has to be one of the highlights of our stay in New Zealand. Although the challenging terrain certainly tests your resolve, the volcanic views are so inspiring!

charli-browns-beach-barbadosWe couldn’t quite believe our luck when we landed a house sit on Barbados. Ocean views, white sandy beaches, and far too many rum punches awaited us!

nullarbor-southaustralia (Custom)Crossing the Nullarbor Plain was one of the highlights of our Australian road trip. We spent 12 months exploring Down Under and drove over 25,000 km around the continent!

digit-house-sit-melbourneWe spent two months house sitting in Melbourne and fell in love with the city’s laid back, hipster vibe. Our charge during our stay was Digit Von Schoot, he loved nothing more than playing ball at the park.

Sammy & Family would like close with how inspiring Ben and Charli are out there living the dream.  It’s one thing to dream and think about it, but its whole other thing actually doing it.  Just like Charli and Ben said, you don’t have to be wealthy to live a rich life.  With some planning, commitment and execution life can be anyone’s for the taking.  The Wanderlusters have proven that.  Thank you Charil and Ben.  God bless.

Jessica Lee Smith came to say goodnight on June 16th, 2015

Jessica Lee Smith stopped in to say goodnight for Sammy & Family

Goodnight everyone. It’s so nice to stop in tonight and say hello to all of our new friends, as well as our old and treasured friends here, who are now just a big part of our extended family. All of you mean so much to us, and it’s truly an honor to spend time with you each day and evening. We hope that you’re all staying safe out there, as the weather is quite severe in certain parts of the country at this time. Be careful, and please reach out to us , should you need anything.

Here are two positive notions for all of us to ponder tonight, and going into tomorrow.

1. Even within an ordinary day, that may seem routine or mundane, there are lessons to be learned, wisdom to gain, and moments of beauty, however simple they may be. If we keep that in mind when rising each morning, we can be more open to seeing and being aware of the miracles all around us. however big or small.

2. Take on each day as a new opportunity to live your life in a way that’s most true to yourself. Visualize yourself closer and closer to your authentic purpose. No one can tell you what your heart wants and needs. Only you can know that. Don’t ever forget that it’s never too late to begin again, at any time, and at any age. Take a leap of faith for yourself. You’re worth it.

Goodnight everybody. Sleep well.

All my love,
Jessica Lee Smith,
For Sammy & Family

Business is Business

Business is Business

Good morning friends.  Sammy has a sales meeting later, he feels pretty good about it.  It’s good to be alive today on June 16th, 2015.  Wishing everyone had great day.

Lets kick the day off with two Positive notions;

1. Give today a chance.  Could be the best day of our lives.

2. I am going to seek happiness today.  If I can’t change my situation right now, I am going to change the way I look at it.

Happy Tuesday friends.

Taz and Buddy lead us out tonight

Taz and Buddy lead us out tonight

Good evening friends.  These are our great friends Tammy Treur and husband Bruce.  Tammy is holding Taz and Bruce is holding Buddy.

Great people and a very moving story.

Tammy Treur and her husband Bruce ( almost 21 years) and my boy’s Taz & Buddy. Taz was adopted 2 years ago from a local shelter someone just dumped him over the fence at night he was only there for about a week and we went to look for a playmate for Buddy and they got along great at the shelter so we brought him home !!

Buddy was also adopted he was a stray that no one wanted. How could you not want either of them. We called the police and shelter went thru all the steps and no one claimed him so now he is ours forever. We have had him for just over 3 years now. They both are 5 and you would think they have been together their entire lives. My family is a blessing. I would not know what to do without them.

Back in Sept 2011 I had to put my sweet Lady down and that was very hard but then January 2012 is when we brought Buddy into our home. I personally think Lady sent him to us . I know that sounds crazy but that’s OK.

Sammy & Family wants to thank Tammy & Bruce for making the world a better place several animals at a time.  Rest in peace Lady and thank you for sending Buddy to them in your absence.  It doesn’t sound crazy to us at all.

No lives will go in vain, no pain will go unnoticed.  Amen. Dr. Harp Seal for Sammy & Family.

Vanessa & Scott’s two year Wedding Anniversary

Vanessa and Scott's two year Wedding Anniversary

Good morning friends.

Yes, so today is Vanessa and my Two year wedding anniversary.   This picture was in Central Park on June 15th, 2013.  We happened to have caught a really beautiful day weather wise which is not really surprising in June.

Thank you to all our friends that showed up and all the well wishes from around the world.  For those of you that were not there, we can tell you Sammy & Henry stole the show.  Unfortunately my mother and Jess were on a plane from Florida to NYC that day and were not able to make it.

This is very special day for us, I’m very happy we’re  all finally together.  The back and forth from NY to PR was very challenging for a while.

OK.  Let’s kick this Monday off with two positive notions from two songs;

1.  If it makes you happy, it can’t be that bad  — Sheryl Crow —

2. You get what you get when you go for it  — Barry Manilow —

Happy Monday friends.
