The Quandary and Quagmire of and ex relationship

 

Good evening friends.

This morning we posted this quote by yours truly; ” Trying to do anything in Moderation is like being friends with your ex-girlfriend” — Tonight we are going to dive in on the Quandary and Quagmire of being friends with an ex girlfriend or boyfriend. Here we go;

Let me break this down from my own personal experience. This doesn’t mean I’m right; I’m just sharing my experiences. So it goes something like this; after you and your partner break up, we go through the stages of devastation, anger, and acceptance. Then we make it through.

Time marches on and you meet someone else. After a few months of courtship and the whole 9 yards, you are in a full-fledged relationship with the good and the bad with the new person. One day you run into your ex and the two of you could not be more polite to one another. You see after we get over the person, they still have a great deal of value to us. What is that value exactly? It’s the fact that they know you inside and out. And now that the anger has dissipated, you feel a sense of familiarity and safety around them.

The next thing you know is that you and your ex are calling and texting each other to get advice on both of your current relationships. Low and behold as you are conversing with each other back and forth about how to handle your new partners, you both realize, wow we know each other so well, it’s like why did we break up in the first place?
In the next phase you both unwind your current relationships and not because of each other, just because the new partners were not really right for either of you.

Next, being you and your ex were here for each other during the most recent break up, the two of you start spending more “friend time” together. After a couple of weeks, the two of you are saying you’re just friends even though you’re both behaving like your back in a relationship. Finally, both of you drop the foolish semantics and enter into a serious relationship again.

After 6 months, the two of you break up again for the same reasons that it didn’t work the first time. And now friendship is off the table for good. Both of you realize you can’t be around each other on any level. In conclusion, you lost the new relationship you had with the second person, and now you both lost a friend in each other from your original relationship.

So what’s the point Scott? I’m tired of rambling. The point is what’s done is done. If the new relationship does Not work, it shouldn’t be because you have one foot still stuck in the last relationship or friendship; however you choose to refer to the original ex.

The same is to say I won’t eat in a restaurant where I once got food poisoning. I won’t deliberately break a bone in my body that was once broken before and I won’t play Karen Carpenter songs on a rainy Monday while I am driving over the George Washington Bridge.

Friends, I can only speak from personal experiences. Take all of this with a grain of salt. The same is to say, don’t pour salt on your wounds, lol. Peace out my animal loving friends. I hope you found this story stimulating or at least interesting. For those that didn’t, remember I only got a 960 on my SAT’s; also I have ADD, ADHC and a slight case of Dyslexia. So cut me a break, lol.

Dreamy Thursday

Dreamy and looking back

Good morning friends.

Sammy came to wish everyone a happy Thursday.  He is in a dreamy mood as you can see. Sammy has seen a lot in his life and has a lot of visual references to reflect upon.  This little boy came from a store on 13th street on the west side of NYC and 10 years later he lives in Puerto Rico.

I will share a quick story with you being its Throwback Thursday.  I was having dinner at Mr. Chows on 57th street and 1st Avenue with my little Kentucky friend I once told you all about.  In the middle of dinner, she said do you mind If go get that dog now we have been talking about, I said “can we just finish dinner and I will go with you ?”  — She said; “If its no bother to you, I wan’t to go now” — So I said” see you at home”

Two hours later I walked into the apartment and a 3 pound Pomeranian at that time just knocked me off my feet.  Several weeks later she had to do a photo shoot or something in London and took off for almost 2 weeks. I felt terrible he was alone all day I was working in NJ and reverse commuting.  So I put him in day care for 8 straight days and nights so he would not be alone.  around the clock.  The place was called Biscuits and Bath, it was a good operation from what I saw and heard.  On the 8th day a gentleman named Carlos called me from the day care center.  He said Sammy is very sick and will not eat food or drink water.  Carlos told me he had lock jaw and could not even open up his mouth.

I left work immediately and drove back to the city like a bat out of hell and even faster then that.  When I got to Biscuits and Bath, Carlos told me I should Not have left in them for a straight 8 days and nights.  He said it really doesn’t work like that.  Carlos went on to say this dog is extremely special and needs to go to the hospital right now.  I literally thought I was in the twilight zone when I was hearing this.

I took him right to the Animal Medical Hospital on 61st and York avenue right off the FDR highway.  When I got there they took him from me and said he had to be seen right now.  I followed the woman into the restricted area and into the exam room.  A young Dr. Runge walked into the room with this balloon full of water and started pumping water into Sammy.  Each time he would push the balloon it would force the water through the tube and into a needle inserted near his neck.  He was  in a lot of pain each time the pressure of the water came through.  He was only 3 pounds after all.

After a few hours at the hospital I took him home and he was never alone again.  I would have my mother there when I was at work, I took in a few roommates at times.  He has never been alone since then and that was ten years ago.  I don’t think he’s been alone for one minute since then, no joke.  And eventually I brought Henry “The soldier of Love” into our home and Sammy was never alone for even one second all the way through today on July 23rd, 2015.

I made it through the Non rainy days

Good evening friends.

Thank you for stopping in.  Its great to be here with everyone.  Day 192 here in Puerto Rico.  Sammy & Family hopes everyone had a nice day today.  We still have had no rain here and continue with the water drought where we have water every other day.  Its literally sunny and beautiful everyday.  It reminds me of that movie “Pleasantville”

As for the water drought, at least i have an excuse not to shower on the non water days. I try to take the positives from all kinds of situations.  It reminds me of a couple of my college friends that were always in a good mood.  I used to ask them “why are you guys always happy ?”  They would turn around to me and say; “How come you’re now always happy?” I was like “Whatever you guys don’t get it”

I lived that way for 40 years.  Why do i keep repeating things like that ?  Because i know some of our shy friends out there are stuck like I was.  Its a false pretense to Deliberately not enjoy anything because you know at some point it might end.  Its upside down.  Enjoy what you can and take joy when you can get it.  Don’t worry life will throw enough _hit at you, life doesn’t need you to do its job for him, hes got plenty of challenges to throw at you.  What we don’t need is to make ourselves one of those challenges.  That’s where the expression; “Get out of your own way” came from.

OK friends, let’s close with three positive notions;

2. I get up each day and do the best I can and I don’t take things personally.  Why?  Because its not personal, its life.

3. If you have writers block start listening to Barry Manilow music.  Barry was right when he sang ♫♫♫ I am music and write the songs ♫♫♫

Kurt Wenner The Pioneer of 3D Pavement Art

Good morning friends.

We are thrilled to have Kurt Wenner featured on “The Good News Channel” today.  Kurt is arguably the best 3D Street Artist in the World.  When you see his work in this story you’ll see why he earned that status.  He has painted 3D images all over the world.  Kurt literally makes streets come alive with his 3D painting.  Its hard to believe these images he paints are actually flat on the ground but they are.

Dies Irae

1. Dies Irae was my first signature work introducing 3D pavement art as a new art form. It was done in Mantua, Italy, where I lived for 18 years.

Kurt is from  Santa Barbara, California. He attended the Rhode Island School of Design and Art Center College of Design. From there he went to work for NASA as a space illustrator.  Now how many people can say that ?  Very impressive to say the least.  In 1982 he left NASA and headed to Italy to embrace classical art. Kurt had a specific interest in Renaissance classicism, he was very drawn to how people drew 500 plus years back in comparison to how they were drawing in the 20 Century at that time.  Wenner invented a new geometry to create compositions that appear to rise from, or fall into the ground.

In 1984 Kurt invented 3D Pavement art which today has several names tied to it; 3D Chalk Art, 3D Street Art, 3D Sidewalk are and so on and so on.  If you see a 3D image in the street its roots can be drawn back to Kurt Wenner. He invented  a new geometry to create compositions that appear to rise from, or fall into the ground.  That geometry is now known as ” Wenner’s hyperbolic perspective.”  Now let’s hear from Kurt himself below;

3. Greenpeace Million Signatures
A million signatures were gathered in Europe to halt the introduction of genetically modified organisms, (GMOs), into the European agricultural environment. The names were printed on the border of the work, which measured 22 meters (72 feet) in diameter.

From Kurt himself; I am an American artist, although I have spent half my life in Italy. I work within the tradition of European classicism and create original architectural designs, paintings, sculpture and decoration. I work in numerous media and venues, but am best known for inventing 3-dimensional pavement art. This very popular art form has become a global and Internet phenomenon, inspiring many artists as well as the public.

This contemporary piece shows an ironic vision of the perils of office work. It is seen outside of a government building in Mantua, Italy, where actual bureaucrats did their work.  Checkout Kurt’s book;  “Asphalt Renaissance;  The Pavement Art and 3-D  Illusions Of Kurt Wenner”

My interest in Renaissance classicism started with the simple desire to draw well. I was struck by the vast difference between how students and teachers drew in the 20th Century and the way artists drew 500 years ago. It seemed to me that artists of the past had abilities far beyond those of today.

5. The Picnic. The work was created for an event called “The Big Lunch”, a United Kingdom event where neighbors get together on a specific day for lunch. The event counted an astounding 4.83 million participants in 2014!

My curiosity about this discrepancy took me to Rome in order to seek out and master drawing and painting within the “language” of western classicism. During this time I isolated myself from 20th century art in order to explore the ideals and concepts practiced in earlier centuries. It has since become an ongoing mission to rediscover classical traditions and communicate them to a contemporary audience.

My paintings invite rediscovery of many artistic traditions, and I enjoy incorporating mythology, allegory, literature, and theater into the compositions. I find that even if a viewer cannot reference the story they sense that one exists and become engaged, curious to learn more.

 6. The Moneypit. This composition, done in London’s Waterloo station, used a side panel and was executed in stereoscopic 3D. I particularly like to challenge my audience with a wealth of allusions — historical, stylistic, and perceptual. While some viewers recognize and appreciate the content, others admire the richly embellished surfaces or technical ability. I especially enjoy working on large pieces that “encompass” the viewer.

Done in Singapore’s Changi airport, the image shows the luxury lifestyle awaiting the lucky winner of their lottery.

By combining painting with sculpture and architecture, I force them to interact in new ways that often blurs the distinction between them. The traditional appearance of my work is my strongest illusion, as it obscures the bold and original use of perspective I employ.

 8. The Circus Parade.  Created for the Sarasota chalk festival, home of the Ringling museum, the 20 by 60 foot image was executed by a team of the world’s most talented pavement artists.  Checkout Kurt’s book;  “Asphalt Renaissance;  The Pavement Art and 3-D  Illusions Of Kurt Wenner”

My artistic motivation is to rediscover, transform, and share insights from the past. I have been fortunate to be able to share my work with millions of people and hope that it will inspire artists and the public to delve into the patrimony of European Art so they can find the wealth of ideas that is so often hidden with the passage of time.

The Memo from God and Mother Nature

I never got the memo that we can play God or Mother Nature with respect to what animals live and which die, and by what numbers.

Good evening friends. We hope everyone had a happy Poppy Tuesday.  Life was good today on July 21st, 2015, it didn’t have to be that way.  Thank God that it is.

You know we have been doing different kind of posts at night and such, I want to promise all our animal loving friends, we never take our eye off the injustices inflicted on our animal friends around the world.  When the time is right I will hit those topics hard like I did with “Where Is the Geneva Convention for Animals?”  — Or “The Second Amendment from the Perspective of an Animal” and many,many more on Youtube and SoundCloud.

At the same token, in conveying our messages for the animals with no voice to defend themselves, Sammy & Family is not here to bring our animal loving friends from around the world down. So its a pick and choose your battles kind of things.  Having said that, animal equality, kindness, rescue and welfare remain the forefront of our voice.

Remember, the only thing it means that people are smarter than animals, is that people are smarter than animals, it means nothing more.  I would love to see the memo or email from God or Mother Nature that says we can decide which animals live and die and by which numbers.  I was never CC’ed on that.  Yes I know, I will check spam.

1. The path to a better world flows through the humane treatment of all animals.

2. Rescuing an animal and bringing them into your home presents such a higher sense of purpose like some have never experienced.  You will be saving a life, and they will make your life.  We call that a Win, Win.

Happy Poppy Tuesday, a day hope and possibilities.  Thank you for stopping by. To all the new friends, “Poppy Tuesday” was created for Patrick and the rough start he had in life.  Patrick is the one in the picture and could not be happier with his life today.  He is so happy, he is happy about being happy.  So when you Net it all out, Poppy Tuesday is a day of hope and reminds us that if Patrick’s life can have such a substantial turn around, anybody can.

Its really nice to be here with everyone.  Thank you for stopping by.  Day 190 here in Puerto Rico.  Friends, to all the writers out here which is pretty much anyone who tries, if you need to be inspired, start listening to Barry Manilow songs and content will be flowing into your head like a CNN broadband pipeline.

With any one of his albums I could write 15 books, 300 pages each.  Sorry, a little tangent there.  We hope everyone a nice day today.  Remember that if you didn’t, a big night sleep can make everything better as early as tomorrow morning.  If you had a nice day, hit the replay button and repeat what works.
