Dr. Harp Seal, a man of many talents
Good morning friends. Thanks for stopping by. It turns out Dr. Harp Seal is a man of many talents. You see Dr. Harp Seal came up the hard way. He put himself through med school working many different jobs.
One of those jobs which was news to me, was a beautician. So yesterday we went to Raquel’s home who handles the coloring of Vanessa’s hair. Dr. Harp Seal knew exactly the blends of colors to use and and exact amounts to get the precise color she wanted. It was like watching Mr. Miyagi from the Karate kid work his magic.
During Raquel’s break I massaged Vanessa’s scalp as part of the service. This was a team effort led by the good doctor.
When we left Raquel’s home it occurred to me, Dr. Harp Seal is like the 21st Century “Macgyver” — Remember him ? The man who can do any ting in any situation right on time from the late 1980’s.
Day 190 here in Puerto Rico friends. See you tonight. It’s just another Happy Monday.
My Hilarious Insurance Interview
Good evening friends.
We hope everyone had and is still having a great weekend. Day 189 here in Puerto Rico. Spoke to some ELS friends recently that are planning a trip here next year which is always nice to hear. It will be great to see them.
So tonight I want to share a funny story with you. Why not ? When i first got to the Island I was looking into some finance jobs being that was my background. And believe it or not Wall Street does have some presence here but not really applicable to the kind of trading I used to do. So i told Vanessa I am going to speak to some insurance companies and maybe sell life insurance. It was something i always had in the back of my head since my father died when he was 46 years old with 6 kids and no life insurance policy. To his defense, it was not as common as it is today for all the sighs that must have just triggered.
Anyway, moving a long. I went to interview with one of the big Insurance Companies we all know, I won’t say the name in case anyone might know people at this particular agency. Point is I had several interviews and they went really well. I was finally asked to come back and meet the gentleman who ran the agency, very nice guy. So we finally we meet and he had been brought up to speed about me from the other interviewers. He looks over my resume and kind of looks he wanted some more perspective on what is going on here.
So he says; “Let me get this straight, you don’t speak Spanish, you have No contacts in Puerto Rico, if you got any appointments, you don’t know your way around Puerto Rico to even get to them, you have no car, and lastly you’ve never sold insurance, is that correct ?” I said; “Yes sir, that is correct”
The man was dumbfounded. He took his glasses off and started rubbing his eyes. Then he was blinking really hard like when you are trying to clear away blurriness. Next thing I know, he kind of sits back in chair and starts looking around the room. This was kind of odd to me because we both knew it was only the two of us in the room. At this point it was clear to me that this man was literally trying to figure out if he was inside of a dream, or if there really was a complete lunatic sitting across from him at his desk. I started going through the scenarios that were coming up next. He was either going to pass out from shock, laugh in my face, or call security. Fortunately he was graceful about and said; “Why don’t you try something easier like winning the lottery?”
Friends from there, Vanessa and I agreed selling insurance in Puerto Rico was not the right fit. I laugh every time I think about that last conversation with that gentleman.
In any event, its just a funny story to tell and look back on. #PointlessInformation
Signing off from Puerto Rico, Scott Smith for Sammy & Family.

In a word; “Hello”
Good morning friends. We hope everyone had a nice sleep. Day 188 here in Puerto Rico. Today’s post is called; “In a word; Hello”
For example; “Hello, how are you ? Anyway the point is, and not a very substantial point, is that “Hello” gets overlooked a lot but certainly leads many of our “lets meet and be friends” sentences. Its great to be here with everyone on July 18th, 2015, which technically speaking is 15 years since the world was supposed end on “Y2K” if you all remember, lol. Amazing the stuff we come up with, huh ?
OK friends, lets kick this gift of today with two positive notions;
1. Besides the things I have to do today, I will try to do something I want to do as well.
2. But this, but that, I hear you, I just want to be happy.
See y’all later.
There is Freedom in Surrender
Good evening friends. Welcome to the weekend. Day 187 here in Puerto Rico. I still have not really been outside a 3 mile radius of the house since I’m here. I’m homebody. I always rather be with my dogs while Vanessa is at work then anywhere else. Sounds kind of boring, I know. But we have to remember what Albert Einstein said; “Logic can take you from A to B, but imagination can take you everywhere.
So the three mile radius stretches a lot further than one would think. We hope everyone has a nice weekend. Remember weekends are to rejuvenate not to ruminate.
More Albert Einstein, “I Speak to everyone the same way, whether he is the garbage man or the gatekeeper”
OK lets close with two positive notions.
1. There is Freedom in surrender, turn around and face the wide open spaces.
2. Speaking of Freedom, there is a lot of freedom when Friday comes around. “Freeeeeedom” — Braveheart —
Love always, Dr. Harp Seal for Sammy & Family.
Sammy Balboa and Benedryl
Good morning friends.
Happy Friday. We all love Friday’s right ? It’s such a Freedom-ish kind of a day and world. We hope everyone had a nice sleep. I have to start stock piling benadryl again sleeping with 5 dogs every night. If you saw me in the morning you would think I went to blows with Rocky Balboa, the greatest boxer in history.
Speaking of the Rocky, I am going to watch the Original Rocky tonight for 894th time, I really believe tonight he will beat Apollo Creed this time.
OK friends, lets kick this day off with two positive notions;
1. Stallone is the biggest legend walking the Earth right now. How is that positive for us ? Lets us all know, the underdog really can become the best in the world.
2. If you feel allergic, benadryl is great. How is that positive ? Because if you take one you won’t feel allergic anymore. You will however be sleeping within ten minutes for like two hours or something. #WeTakeTheGoodWithTheBad.
Hey that reminds of me of that song from the 1979 show “The facts of Life” — ♫♫♫ You take the good, you take the bad, you take them both and there you have; The facts of life, the facts of life ♫♫♫
Happy Friday. Day 187 here in Puerto Rico. God bless and have a great day.
Merilee, Merilee, Merilee, Merilee, life is but a Wednesday
Good evening friends. Day 185 here in Puerto Rico. I know, I know, its like Scott, do u think we care what day it is ?, lol. I hear that friends, please let me amuse myself.
OK, tonight is called, “Merilee, Merilee, Merilee, life is but a Wednesday” — Now I know for sure we have not broken “Wednesday” down into an acronym yet. So here we go, this is on the spot, totally improvising.
Wonderful-Everlasting-Delight-Nurturing-Endlessly-Sweetness-Dynamically-Astonishingly-Yearnfully. Wow did I force that but kind of feel like i pulled it off.
Let’s close with two positive notions;
1. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Honestly I have never really understood that one but I know its nice a nice one through experience, so just run with it.
2. If you did your best today you’re a winner. Life doesn’t care about your score. It just wants your best version of yourself.
With that friends, signing off from Puerto Rico, Dr. Harp Seal for Sammy & Family.
Bill Maher was right; “He’s not wrong”
Sammy & Family will take a step further, he’s Not wrong about anything.
