Love has no bounds

Love has no bounds Good evening friends.

We have a very special post tonight called “Love has no bounds” — In the picture here is Billy. This beautiful Pit Bull is 15 years old.  He is deaf, blind and can barely walk from arthritis.

Billy belongs to our friend, Maria from Milan, Italy. Maria rescued Billy in 2003.  He had been discarded by firefighters because he was too mild. He was emaciated and almost without fur but very hungry for love.

Billy has been through a knee surgery, cancer, diabetes (which caused the blindness) and many other complications. And despite all that, he’s still a very happy and grateful dog. Billy still manages to play with many toys believe it or not.

Our friend Maria has suffered with chronic depression for many years. There were times when Maria wasn’t sure if she would carry on. The depression ran very deep. Maybe some of us can relate to that. I know that I can.

When Maria and I were corresponding earlier, she told me that she adopted Billy in 2003 to save his life and to give her life purpose. She needed a reason to get out of bed in the morning and to be able to function in everyday life. Billy gave her that reason. Attending to Billy’s needs gave Mari’s life purpose.

To this day, Maria credits Billy with saving her life. Maria could not afford to have bad thoughts anymore because she had to look after Billy.

Friends, I am very moved by this story. I want to thank Maria for being so open with us about their journey together. As animal lovers we often hear the expression, “Who rescued who?” — The story of Maria and Billy is precisely where that expression is derived from.

Sammy & Family would like to thank Maria for making the world a better place one animal at a time. We would also like to thank Billy for bridging Maria back to life in times of crisis.

Dislocation between a Multicultural Country and the Politics governing it

Dislocation between a Multicultural country the politics governing it

There is a significant dislocation between the multicultural country we live and the Political Landscape governing it. Something has to give or something has to break.

This election was a vote for “White Nationalism”, Not Democracy. The world is more one and more ethnic than ever before. That is an indisputable reality in this country and the world for that matter. “The Good Ole Boys” do Not like that. They want to keep it nice and whitey white.

The country is in a very strange spot right now. Globalization is taking us into the future and the President Elect and his cabinet members are taking us back to the past.

What I can say with confidence is that we’re Not in good hands right now. And until that changes, the GOP is in position to really hurt the poor, elderly, disabled and starts wars for no particular reason.

I hope I’m wrong.

All Paws Pet Sitting

All Paws Pet Sitting

Good evening friends.

We have a very special feature tonight. Say hello to my childhood friend, Lonni Michelson. She and I go back 40 years. Yes, 4 decades. Said another way, our friendship started when the Original movie, “Rocky” came out in 1976.

Lonni is a big time animal lover. We all have heard the expression, “If you love what you do, you’ll never work another day in your life” — Well Lonni has applied that slogan into her life.

A couple of months ago she started a pet sitting company called, “All Paws Pet Sitting” on Long Island serving Eastern Nassau and Western Suffolk counties. All of this was on the heels of starting a new life, finding a new love as of a year ago, and now professionally doing what she loves most, taking care of animals.

It’s amazing what happens when you let go of the past and you embrace the wide open spaces with an open heart and mind.

Friends, I wish Lonni had started this business years ago because between my 6 dogs, I would’ve had her booked around the clock.

Lonnie will take care of your animals just the way you would in the comfort of your own home. When you love animals the way Lonnie does, it’s really not even work. She does 1/2 an hour to one hour visits, she does 1/2 an hour walks, and she will do overnights in the clients home as well. So no traveling stresses for the owners and their pets. As I’m writing this I’m saying to myself this is a dream job and dream service. We call that a win win. We like those.

Anyway friends, if you’re on Long Island and you can use some help, you definitely want to reach out to my childhood friend, Lonni Michelson. I would trust her with all 6 of my dogs and my own life to be honest. Lonni is literally like a “Pet Whisperer”

Happy Poppy Rocky Tuesday on December 6th, 2016

Poppy Rocky Tuesday on December 6th, 2016

Good morning friends.

Happy Poppy Rocky Tuesday. A day filled with Hope and Possibilities. Remember, if the Pops and Rocky can make it, anyone can

Let’s kick this day off with two positive notions.

1. Everyday we wake up, we’re a day closer to whats bothering us, Not bothering us anymore. Let that reality help propel us forward.

2. Good, bad or indifferent, today is a gift. We know that because many people that were here with us yesterday, are no longer with us today. We owe it to them and ourselves to give this day the best shot we can.

Day 696 here in Puerto Rico and Day 384 since we rescued Rocky.
