Today we have the privilege of featuring Morkel Erasmus out of Africa. He’s one of the Best wildlife photographers on the Planet. And still, he keeps it simple, he loves Africa, loves its people, its wild places and its wildlife. Great quote from Morkel; “To me, nature photography is all about being in the moment, and capturing that moment in a way that can relate to someone who didn’t have the privilege of being there with me”
Morkel is a passionate wildlife photographer and part-time photographic safari guide based in South Africa. When he’s not in the field, he works as an Industrial Engineer working in the supply chain industry.

From Morkel himself now; “My love for nature was shaped by many trips with my family to the Southern African wilderness as a child growing up – picking up a camera was when it all really clicked for me (pun intended).

I hope to inspire others to care as deeply about the fragile ecosystems of my native country and continent as I do, to instill a love for nature in my viewers, and perhaps in some small way, help preserve that which I have come to love and appreciate.

I am always eager to assist in creating awareness for conservation issues through my work and my social media channels, and for championing the advancement of wildlife photography as hobby/pastime.

More wildlife photographers means more people visiting the bush and more money coming in to sustain the industry, conservation and communities that depend on ecotourism in Africa. For more of Morkel’s Wildlife pictures and stories, visit; http://www.morkelerasmus.com/

We need that to keep pushing ecotourism as a viable alternative to the models of consumptive tourism that traditionally defined “safari” in Africa. Join Morkel on a Safari; http://photography.wild-eye.co.za/ambassadors/morkel-erasmus/
