Good morning friends.
Sammy came to wish everyone a happy Thursday. He is in a dreamy mood as you can see. Sammy has seen a lot in his life and has a lot of visual references to reflect upon. This little boy came from a store on 13th street on the west side of NYC and 10 years later he lives in Puerto Rico.
I will share a quick story with you being its Throwback Thursday. I was having dinner at Mr. Chows on 57th street and 1st Avenue with my little Kentucky friend I once told you all about. In the middle of dinner, she said do you mind If go get that dog now we have been talking about, I said “can we just finish dinner and I will go with you ?” — She said; “If its no bother to you, I wan’t to go now” — So I said” see you at home”
Two hours later I walked into the apartment and a 3 pound Pomeranian at that time just knocked me off my feet. Several weeks later she had to do a photo shoot or something in London and took off for almost 2 weeks. I felt terrible he was alone all day I was working in NJ and reverse commuting. So I put him in day care for 8 straight days and nights so he would not be alone. around the clock. The place was called Biscuits and Bath, it was a good operation from what I saw and heard. On the 8th day a gentleman named Carlos called me from the day care center. He said Sammy is very sick and will not eat food or drink water. Carlos told me he had lock jaw and could not even open up his mouth.
I left work immediately and drove back to the city like a bat out of hell and even faster then that. When I got to Biscuits and Bath, Carlos told me I should Not have left in them for a straight 8 days and nights. He said it really doesn’t work like that. Carlos went on to say this dog is extremely special and needs to go to the hospital right now. I literally thought I was in the twilight zone when I was hearing this.
I took him right to the Animal Medical Hospital on 61st and York avenue right off the FDR highway. When I got there they took him from me and said he had to be seen right now. I followed the woman into the restricted area and into the exam room. A young Dr. Runge walked into the room with this balloon full of water and started pumping water into Sammy. Each time he would push the balloon it would force the water through the tube and into a needle inserted near his neck. He was in a lot of pain each time the pressure of the water came through. He was only 3 pounds after all.
After a few hours at the hospital I took him home and he was never alone again. I would have my mother there when I was at work, I took in a few roommates at times. He has never been alone since then and that was ten years ago. I don’t think he’s been alone for one minute since then, no joke. And eventually I brought Henry “The soldier of Love” into our home and Sammy was never alone for even one second all the way through today on July 23rd, 2015.
Friends, I will see you tonight. Today has a chance of being a great day. Sincerely, Dr. Harp Seal for Sammy & Family on day 193 in Puerto Rico.
