Good evening friends.
Tonight we have a great friend of Sammy & Family’s, Gill Griffith from England shares her memories of first hearing of September 11th, 2001.
Before we share her story, let me just say Gill is an incredible friend and guardian to animals all over the world. She has personally rescued two stray dogs from Romania from an unspeakable horrors as we have written about in the past. She is very involved in animal rescue and welfare in many ways but that’s for another night.
Gill Griffith is a woman of compassion from head to toe. Let’s hear what she remembers about 9/11 when it happened.
I was living in Northern Ireland at the time. A place synonymous with terrorism but what I was about to witness surpassed the bombings in Belfast. I was engrossed in a film on TV when it cut out and images of what looked like a burning building appeared on screen. I was miffed as the film was about to end and I missed it. But after curiously continuing to watch the images in front of me and listing to the information being conveyed to us, I sat in utter disbelief at this unbelievable occurrence.
I cannot for the life of me remember what film I was watching and am neither interested in how it ended. But I shall never forget those first images of that terrible tragedy.
Gill Thank you for sharing your memories of that unforgettable day with us. Being I lived in NYC, I was very in tuned to what has happening just from being on the street trying to get home that day. But once I got home and settled in that night, I was pinned to the news for a 2 straight months just as Gill described. September 11th, 2001 was “The Pearl Harbor of 21st Century” — It was unfathomable.
No lives will go in Vain, no pain will go unnoticed. Amen. Dr. Harp Seal for Sammy & Family.
