All Paws Pet Sitting

All Paws Pet Sitting

Good evening friends.

We have a very special feature tonight. Say hello to my childhood friend, Lonni Michelson. She and I go back 40 years. Yes, 4 decades. Said another way, our friendship started when the Original movie, “Rocky” came out in 1976.

Lonni is a big time animal lover. We all have heard the expression, “If you love what you do, you’ll never work another day in your life” — Well Lonni has applied that slogan into her life.

A couple of months ago she started a pet sitting company called, “All Paws Pet Sitting” on Long Island serving Eastern Nassau and Western Suffolk counties. All of this was on the heels of starting a new life, finding a new love as of a year ago, and now professionally doing what she loves most, taking care of animals.

It’s amazing what happens when you let go of the past and you embrace the wide open spaces with an open heart and mind.

Friends, I wish Lonni had started this business years ago because between my 6 dogs, I would’ve had her booked around the clock.

Lonnie will take care of your animals just the way you would in the comfort of your own home. When you love animals the way Lonnie does, it’s really not even work. She does 1/2 an hour to one hour visits, she does 1/2 an hour walks, and she will do overnights in the clients home as well. So no traveling stresses for the owners and their pets. As I’m writing this I’m saying to myself this is a dream job and dream service. We call that a win win. We like those.

Anyway friends, if you’re on Long Island and you can use some help, you definitely want to reach out to my childhood friend, Lonni Michelson. I would trust her with all 6 of my dogs and my own life to be honest. Lonni is literally like a “Pet Whisperer”

Happy Poppy Rocky Tuesday on December 6th, 2016

Poppy Rocky Tuesday on December 6th, 2016

Good morning friends.

Happy Poppy Rocky Tuesday. A day filled with Hope and Possibilities. Remember, if the Pops and Rocky can make it, anyone can

Let’s kick this day off with two positive notions.

1. Everyday we wake up, we’re a day closer to whats bothering us, Not bothering us anymore. Let that reality help propel us forward.

2. Good, bad or indifferent, today is a gift. We know that because many people that were here with us yesterday, are no longer with us today. We owe it to them and ourselves to give this day the best shot we can.

Day 696 here in Puerto Rico and Day 384 since we rescued Rocky.

Poppy Rocky Tuesday on November 29th, 2016

Good morning friends.

Happy Poppy Rocky Tuesday. A day filled with Hope and Possibilities. Remember, if the Pops and Rocky can make it, anyone can.

Life had the decks really stacked against Poppy and Rocky. The odds were almost zero for them having a good life. But those odds pulled through. And they have a great life and they’ve completed Sammy & Family’s family.

Now we stand strong as a unit, as a pack of wolves. Anything can happen on any given day. We just have to stay focused and keep an opened mind and heart. From there, the universe will show us the way.

Day 689 here in Puerto Rico and day 377 since we rescued Rocky. Just 11 days ago was Rocky’s one year anniversary with us. We think that puts him at 2 years old now.

Have a great Tuesday.

A Tribute for Cosmos

Rest in Peace Cosmos

Good evening friends.

Tonight we pay tribute to a fallen angel named, Cosmos.

Cosmos crossed over the Rainbow Bridge on November 24th, just this past Thursday. He died of several illnesses, but hypothyrodisim and polyarthritis were the major ones. He was just shy of 11 years old upon his passing.

Cosmos belonged to our friend, Bri MaCathur and family. I had corresponded with Bri the past couple of days and got a real sense of what Cosmos meant to this family and everyone he had encountered.

Here’s what Bri had to say of Cosmos, her everything;

Cosmos was a Border Collie Retriever Mix. Although, unlike Retrievers, he never enjoyed the water. The most he’d go in is to his knee and lay like a hippo.

Despite his several illnesses, up until a just few weeks ago, you’d never guess his age. It never stopped him from enjoying life. Bri mentioned, Cosmos was a therapy dog for some, a friend to others, part of the family and practically like a brother. As animal lovers, we can all relate to that.

Cosmos was so special even non dog lovers loved him. He had a very gentle and calm way about him. Most people joking called him, “Zen Dog”

He loved chasing foxes, but if course, never caught one. His favorite place / comfort zone, was in my dad’s car. He enjoyed any car, but his in particular was special. If we thought he was lost, or if he was afraid, all we’d have to do is check the car, and he’d be there.

He was my everything, and I’m still in shock that he is gone. It happened so quickly. I just am glad he’s no longer suffering.

Sammy & Family wants to thank Bri for sharing Comos’ story with us. We also want to thank her for making the world a better place, one animal at a time. One random act of kindness may not change the world, but it changes the world for the recipient of that kindness. Bri and Family offered that kindness to Cosmos and made his world. And it’s like people always say, “We rescue them, and they rescue us”, how true that is.

The world is a better place because Cosmos was in it. He offered comfort and healing to anyone that he encountered. Cosmos is gone, but never forgotten. He was born on January 12, 2006 and he passed away November 24, 2016.

No lives will go in vain. No pain will go unnoticed. Amen. Scott Smith for Sammy & Family.

Sundays are a Newspaper and Coffee kind of morning

Newspaper and Coffee

Sundays are such a newspaper and coffee kind of morning. Sunday is our favorite morning of the week. Monday through Friday it’s work work work. On Saturdays, we catch up on personal responsibilities.

But on Sundays, we let imagination in the door and back into our lives. On Sunday’s, we get to be us again. The people we set out to be from the very beginning.

Happy Sunday Funday.

Father and Son Conversation in the New World

Father and Son conversation in the new world

Father and Son conversation regarding the New World;

One thing we’ve learned from this election is that as long as you win, do whatever it takes. Let’s extrapolate what we’ve learned from this election and teach our kids and families to do the same.

If I had a son, here’s what I would say; “Son, do whatever you have to do to win. If you have to lie, cheat and steal, you do it. As your father, you should spit on other kids, you should pick on the weaker ones and make fun of disabled kids too. Son, it does Not matter what you really believe, just say and do what needs to be said and done to win. Standing for anything is meaningless, so just tell them what they want to hear. And son, once you get what you want, stab them in the back just because you can”

“Son, pick on minorities and immigrants every chance you get. They’re lower than us. We’re pure White and don’t you ever forget that. Never mind that we’re all immigrants in one form or another. Never mind that you did Nothing to be born in the United States, you just got lucky. Forget all that, you’re here now, so screw everyone else”

“Son, as for women, they’re garbage, try to get some oral sex and then send them back to the kitchen”

Folks, in conclusion, if this is what winning looks like, I would rather lose.

Sincerely, a father in the new world.

Prayers for Spunky

Prayers for Spunky

Good evening friends.

This little Pomeranian, Spunky, is fighting for his life right now. He’s 15 years old and his fighting heart disease and his kidneys are failing.

Spunky is member of our friends Don and Cindy Volz. Don is in this picture post with Spunky.  Don had a pretty serious accident two years ago and Spunky never left his side when he came home from the hospital. Cindy even smuggled him into the hospital while Don was recovering. Spunky was big part of Don’s recovery and became the family hero.

This little hero needs our prayers now.  Sammy & Family is really pulling for this little soldier. We need a big time miracle.

Keep up posted Don and Cindy. We’ll be praying for Spunky. Hang tough. Anything can happen on any given day.

Scott Smith for Sammy & Family.

Poppy Rocky Tuesday on October 18th, 2016

Good morning friends.

Happy Poppy Rocky Tuesday. A day filled with Hope and Possibilities. Remember, if the Pops and Rocky can make it anyone can.

Sammy decided to swing by in honor of Poppy Rocky Tuesday. He has brought us a beautiful display of colorful flowers this morning. Colors are known to lift people’s spirits. And on this day of Hope and Possibilities, lifting people’s spirits is in sync with our focus.

Day 645 here in Puerto Rico, and day 335 since we rescued Rocky.

It’s great to be alive on October 18th, 2016. It didn’t have to be this way. Thank God that it is.
