My boy Rocky has Such Poise and Composure

Rocky's Poise and Composure

Good morning friends.

My boy Rocky here has such Poise and composure as you can see.  Considering we rescued him off the streets 78 days ago, I really am very proud of him.

Sammy & Family really loves this big boy.  He has completed our family. I know I say that every time we bring a new dog into our lives, but we are officially complete now.  In laymen’s terms, If i were to bring a 7th dog into this home, Vanessa’s dad would kick me out of the house, lol. So when I say we are now complete, I mean it.

OK, lets kick this day off with two Positive notions.

1. Its important we maintain our composure during turbulent times and no fly off the handle.

2. Let’s give today a chance. It could be the greatest day of our lives. Not saying it will be, I’m just saying that it could be.

See you tonight friends.  Dr. Harp Seal for Sammy & Family.

Barry Smith’s 32nd Year anniversary since his death in 1984

Rip Barry Smith 32 years ago today

Good night dear friends and family.

This is Jessica writing you tonight. The photograph on this post is of my father, Barry Smith, a giant amongst men. I say that because of his heart and his incredible courage. Whenever I speak of my Father you will always hear the phrase ” There was no one like him”, because there wasn’t and there never will be. He passed away at the age of 46, a very young man, 32 years ago today.

Barry was fierce. Fierce in his living, fierce in his loving and fierce in his authenticity. His family was everything to him, and he would defend us with his life. Not everyone understood my father because he didn’t follow norms. He marched to the beat of his own drum and never cared about the opinions that others had of him for doing so. He was a no tolerance for bull*hit type of guy. He disliked pretentious and snobbish people and he let them know that very openly. He was able to size people up very easily, in regards to their honor , integrity and heart. He was amazingly real. What you saw was what you got with him. Wether my father was rich or poor, he was always the same. He liked making money but knew it didn’t define him, and that it didn’t define others. If my Father liked someone, it was because he could feel their sincerity and their decency. And to those select few, my father was an amazing friend.

We had no bigger cheerleader than my Dad. He inspired us to take risks, as he did when something meant a lot to him. He stood up for what he believed in, no matter if he stood alone or not. He was a fighter to the bone and he was one of the most highly intelligent people I’ve ever known.

He made his career in commercial real estate from the ground up , with no money at all, just a white pages and a telephone. What many people don’t know about him,  is that he was also artistic, creative and very passionate. As a very young man,  he worked as a chef and at one time made ice sculptures. He was a voracious reader, enjoyed painting and loved to ski. Every single thing he did, he did fully with passion. He was a mentor to so many people, including my Mother Jo Ann and his 6 children.

In the last 7 years of his life, after his first heart attack, when the doctors told him he wouldn’t live much longer,  he took that on like another challenge. He lived the H*ll out of the rest of his life.  He spent his time with family, told us stories about his whole life, and taught us life lessons that we could never learn from anyone else. We witnessed him fighting his best fight against heart disease, his most powerful opponent.  He made every single day count. There were many close calls when we were told he would not live through the night, and he went on to live again, leaving even the doctors wondering how. He was unbeatable. He lived and died by his own motto , “A quitter never wins, and a winner never quits”. He never ever gave up.

Since that February day in 1984, after the loss of my father, the world and our lives were never the same. Although it’s been over 3 decades, my fathers legacy is still going strong. I miss him and think of his smile every single day. I live each day trying to make him as proud as he made me. Saying the words “I am Barry Smiths Daughter” are words I speak with an enormous amount of pride. I’m so lucky to be able to call him my father and to have been loved by his magnificent soul. Every day until the end of my life, I will work on getting better and better at living life with the same bravery as my father did before me.

I love you so much Daddy. Forever and always, Until the end of time. Your light still shines in my heart and will never ever be extinguished. I know you’re up there, and I feel you when you put your hand in mine. I know you are beside me when I need you the most. You were no ordinary man. You were extraordinary.

Sending you hugs and kisses in heaven,
Jessie

Sweet dreams everyone,
Jessica Lee Smith,

An evening of Hope

Thoughts & Prayers on February 2nd, 2016

Good evening friends.

In the spirit of Poppy Rocky Tuesday evening.  Lets continue the beat of Hope and Possibilities. In all reality, everyday can be a day of Hope and Possibilities.

Which kind of reminds me of Billy Joel’s song “This is the time to remember cause it will not last forever” — Same principal, you really could apply that song to everyday of your life.

We hope you all had a nice day today.  If you did, hit the replay button tomorrow. Let’s repeat what works. If you did not, a good night sleep can give a whole new perspective by tomorrow morning.

OK friends. Lets bring this evening in with a nice Positive Notion.

I. I gave my best today, and my best is always good enough. God willing we get another shot tomorrow.

Signing off from Puerto Rico on day

Happy Poppy Rocky Tuesday on February 2nd, 2016

Poppy Tuesday on February 2, 2016

Good morning friends.

Happy Poppy Rocky Tuesday. A day filled with Hope and Possibilities. Remember, if Poppy and Rocky can do it, anyone can.  These two troopers proved that if you rise to the occasion and hold onto your faith, anything can happy.

Anytime you may be questioning your faith, just remember the story of Poppy and Rocky.

OK friends. Lets kick this day off with two Positive Notions.

1. Focus on the positive and your path will be positive. Life throws a lot of challenges at all of us, try to stay focused and positive.  When we do that, the challenges start diminishing. That’s where the slogan “Mind over Matter” comes from.

2. If we woke up today, we already won. The rest is just gravy.

See you tonight friends.  Day 389 here in Puerto Rico. Dr. Harp Seal for Sammy & Family.

Vanessa and Madonna

Vanessa at the Madonna Conert

Good evening friends.

Thanks for dropping by tonight.  We hope everyone had a nice day.  This is Vanessa at the Madonna concert on Thursday night last week. Shes been a Madonna fan since 1985.  Let me do the math for you please, that’s 31 years. Vanessa is a serious Madonna fan.

Speaking of Madonna, has this woman every taken a break ?  I mean she is literally a machine. Shes had about 50 off the chart hits and has been touring for more than 3 decades. Madonna should do her own version of Frank Sinatra’s song; “I did it My Way” — Because nobody did it their way like Madonna did and still does.

She is one of the biggest legends on Earth, no doubt about it. Of course I would Not put her in Stallone’s league, but the fact that Stallone’s league is even considered for Madonna, what bigger compliment is there than that.

To Madonna, Sammy & Family would like to offer you “The Stallone Achievement award, not the Lifetime Achievement Award, but the “Stallone Achievement Award”  — There is no higher award than that.

Oh that’s right, my wife is in this post. Let me get back to her. Vanessa has been going to the gym over 2 years now, 6 days a week.  Two hours per session.  That is not an exaggeration to get some “Oooh and “Ooh and aah’s”. Personally I think that is insane, but she puts the “D” in Dedication, she puts the “C” in Commitment, and she puts the “E” in Excellence.

What achievement do I get you ask ?  Great question. I have been told I am the greatest Mr. Mom that ever lived.  I think that counts for something, lol. Well our 6 dogs do anyway.

Signing off from Puerto Rico on Day 388, and day 75 since we rescued Rocky, Dr. Harp Seal for Sammy & Family.

Tonight we say goodbye to Patches

Tonight we say goodbye to Patches

Good evening friends.

Tonight the we say goodbye to Patches. This fallen angel crossed the rainbow bridge on Friday evening. Patches passed at 14 years old and was a member of Angela Murphy and Family.

We send our thoughts & prayers to Angela during this difficult time. Its never easy saying goodbye to our animal companions. They’re such a big part of our lives. Sometimes letting them go is the only loving move left to make.

Sammy & Family wants to thank Angela for giving Patches such a great life. That’s how we make the world a better place, one animal at a time.

Rest in Peace Patches. Gone but Never forgotten.

No lives will go in vain, no pain will go unnoticed. Dr. Harp Seal for Sammy & Family.
