Good News
Poppy Tuesday on June 23rd, 2015
Good morning friends. It’s great to be alive on June 23rd, 2015.
Little Poppy Seeks came to wish everyone a wonderful Poppy Tuesday. As you can see Pops has some mischief going on his mind. I guess its true what they say; ” boys will be boys”
OK friends, lets kick this day off with two positive notions;
1. No matter the outcome of this day, if you show up for your life today and do the best you can joyfully, you are a winner in my book.
2. What makes someone a winner ? A winner feels good about themselves and rolls with the punches that life throws at them. How do you become a winner ? You don’t take the punches life throws at your personally. Because its not personal, its just life.
Happy Tuesday friends.
Happy Father’s Day, Basketball and Boobies
Good morning friends.
Happy Father’s day to all the dads out there. Let me guess, most dads will receive a tie today as a present, lol.
OK, being I have been on the father kick lately, I decided to leave this particular story for Father’s day which happens to land on Sunday Funday, and also on a day we usually do features on “The Good News Channel”
Here we go. As i said my dad was obsessed with basketball and baseball and a result pushed me pretty hard in sports. Let me tell you a story specially about his training methods in basketball for me. This took place from the ages of 9 -12 years old. Being my father was very competitive he wanted to make sure I was the best. But sometimes practice just wasn’t good enough.
So he went out and hired me a basketball tutor whom I spent every Saturday morning with from 7 am to 10 am, three hours of hard core basketball training. Now if anyone thinks that I wanted to get up on a Saturday morning for three hours of basketball tutoring after a full week of school and basketball training with the team, then you need to think again.
Now here was my father and the tutor’s strategy. You see in basketball we all dribble the ball better with our stronger hand and arm. Being my strong side was my right side, naturally that’s the side I was most comfortable dribbling the ball up the court with. My father wanted me to able to dribble just as well with my left hand as my right. As many of you know this term is called; ambidextrous, which means you can go right or left just as easily on both sides.
So my father and the basketball tutor decided to tie my right hand behind my back, blindfold me and force my mind and body to only use my weaker side which was my left side. Now if anyone thinks I wanted to spend my Saturday mornings with my strong arm tied behind my back, blindfolded and dribbling a basketball on my weak side for 3 hours, you probably believe that Tom Hanks and Daryl Hannah are still living in the ocean since 1984 from the movie “Mermaid”
Did i become ambidextrous ? Yes. Was i much better basketball player because I could drive the ball left and right ? Yes. Did it confuse the players defending me knowing I can go left and right ? Yes ?
Did I care about any of those benefits ? No. At the end of the day I was 12 years old and just wanted to run around squeezing girls boobies.
Happy Father’s days friends. Have a great Sunday Funday.
RIP, Barry Smith, February 3rd, 1984.
Saturday night always feels like a Movie Night
Good evening friends. It’s Saturday night around 8 pm and I usually get that; ” I want to see a movie tonight on cable” — Usually that’s when i break out in prayer that out of 500 cable channels that there will be at least one good movie playing.
In today’s times we are lucky because many a times out of 500 channels there is literally nothing to watch. And we know what that means right ? Pull out the smart phone and start browsing Facebook pages as if they are another source of TV Channels. God forbid anyone should just sit with themselves unconnected to something. I mean, who is crazy enough to sit peacefully in silence with no technology connected to them ? Not I. Alone with my thoughts ? No way Jose.
Friends tomorrow for Father’s day I am featuring the late Barry Smith on “The Good News Channel” — This particular story is one for the books, and not it does not entail me ending up in a garbage can. After Father’s day, I will slow down the father stories, i get a little OCD’ish as you know.
To any of Sammy & Family’s friends out there not feeling the “Saturday night light and breezy” kind of thing, reach out anytime, nobody has to feel down alone. Email me anytime; smith7024@yahoo.com. And you don’t have to in a relationship to have a nice weekend. Additionally you don’t have to pressure yourself to go out just because its the weekend.
Peace and love friends. Sincerely Scott Smith on day 160 in Puerto Rico.
Kelly and Sammy and TGIF
Good morning friends. Sammy & Kelly illustrations some togetherness here. Friday showed right on time as usual. Friday is like a genius or something, always so timely.
Let’s kick this morning off with two positive notions;
1. There is a good chance today will be a great day.
2. What will I give life back today for this gift given to me today ? A good attitude, or a not so good attitude. Things to think about.
Have a great day everyone. TGIF
Wanderlusters
Good mornings. We have a fantastic story about a couple traveling the world as House Sitters. Incredible adventures by two really nice people. Charli and Ben show us you don’t have to be wealthy people to live a rich life. How true that is. Let’s here what they have say and see their adventures below.
Our time in New Zealand encompassed 18 months, an epic road trip in a caravan, and five house sitting assignments. From the Bay of Islands to Stewart Island we soaked in all that this amazing country has to offer. I’d dare to say NZ stole my heart, there wasn’t a day that I didn’t wake up to a spectacular view.
In 2010 we made the decision to live a life less ordinary and six months later, after much downsizing and guide book consulting, we embarked on an undefined period of travel.
Flying over Honolulu in a tiny prop-plane en route to Molokai was one of the most exciting flights we’ve taken. Seeing the city from above was surreal, we hadn’t envisaged quite so much concrete in paradise but the urban jungle on Oahu was quickly forgotten after we landed in the real Hawaii.
We embrace every opportunity for adventure and have been fortunate to experience adrenaline highs in six different countries to date. Travel has enriched our lives to such an extent that we’ve no plans to return to the average existence we once knew.
Our neighbors, the Green Monkeys in Barbados were a funny bunch. Every evening they’d come and pick the flowers from the Royal Poinciana trees in our garden, and they didn’t offer us any! How rude! lolol.
If I told you that over the course of the last four years I’d not spent a penny on rent, you’d probably assume that I was still living with my parents or sleeping on a park bench.
A day of paddle powered adventure on Lake Wanaka is a must for anyone visiting New Zealand’s south island. I could almost hear the beating heart if the indomitable landscape that surrounds the lake.
The reality is quite the opposite. Over the last four years I have been living rent free and travelling the world as a house sitter. Along with my partner Ben I have lived in nine different countries and 27 different properties. We’ve looked after alpacas and deer in New Zealand, walks dogs along Caribbean beaches, and cared for cats in one of the world’s most expensive cities.
Leaving Oceania behind us we flew to New York for a short layover en route to our house sitting stays in the Caribbean. It offered a stark contrast to the vast landscapes of New Zealand, but as ever the change was welcome, and we took the opportunity to sample life in the Big Apple.
House sitting abroad has enabled us to explore the world and live like locals while dramatically reducing the cost of our travels. So often we talk to people who tell us ‘we’d love to do what you do, but we can’t afford to travel’, our reply is always ‘you can, why don’t you give house sitting a try?”
Beginning our adventure in Costa Rica we spent hours just chilling out with this green iguana. He was content to relax in the shade of a tree while the midday sun beat down overhead. We feel in love with the country’s incredible wealth of biodiversity as we traveled around house sitting and exploring for eight months.
We are not wealthy people but our lives are rich thanks to the opportunities we secure through house sitting. We live simply and spend our money wisely, but we live fully and enjoy each day. Checkout the Wanderlusters Facebook page; https://www.facebook.com/Wanderlusters?fref=ts
Hiking the 19.5km Tongariro Alpine Crossing has to be one of the highlights of our stay in New Zealand. Although the challenging terrain certainly tests your resolve, the volcanic views are so inspiring!
We couldn’t quite believe our luck when we landed a house sit on Barbados. Ocean views, white sandy beaches, and far too many rum punches awaited us!

Crossing the Nullarbor Plain was one of the highlights of our Australian road trip. We spent 12 months exploring Down Under and drove over 25,000 km around the continent!
We spent two months house sitting in Melbourne and fell in love with the city’s laid back, hipster vibe. Our charge during our stay was Digit Von Schoot, he loved nothing more than playing ball at the park.
Sammy & Family would like close with how inspiring Ben and Charli are out there living the dream. It’s one thing to dream and think about it, but its whole other thing actually doing it. Just like Charli and Ben said, you don’t have to be wealthy to live a rich life. With some planning, commitment and execution life can be anyone’s for the taking. The Wanderlusters have proven that. Thank you Charil and Ben. God bless.

Business is Business
Good morning friends. Sammy has a sales meeting later, he feels pretty good about it. It’s good to be alive today on June 16th, 2015. Wishing everyone had great day.
Lets kick the day off with two Positive notions;
1. Give today a chance. Could be the best day of our lives.
2. I am going to seek happiness today. If I can’t change my situation right now, I am going to change the way I look at it.
Happy Tuesday friends.
Vanessa & Scott’s two year Wedding Anniversary
Good morning friends.
Yes, so today is Vanessa and my Two year wedding anniversary. This picture was in Central Park on June 15th, 2013. We happened to have caught a really beautiful day weather wise which is not really surprising in June.
Thank you to all our friends that showed up and all the well wishes from around the world. For those of you that were not there, we can tell you Sammy & Henry stole the show. Unfortunately my mother and Jess were on a plane from Florida to NYC that day and were not able to make it.
This is very special day for us, I’m very happy we’re all finally together. The back and forth from NY to PR was very challenging for a while.
OK. Let’s kick this Monday off with two positive notions from two songs;
1. If it makes you happy, it can’t be that bad — Sheryl Crow —
2. You get what you get when you go for it — Barry Manilow —
Happy Monday friends.
Sunday with Patreeko
Good morning friends. We gave Patrick a little adventure yesterday. This was his second time being on a plane. His first plane ride was to get to Puerto Rico and his second plane ride is right here at the mall. This plane actually does Not fly in the air in case anyone is confused about that.
Nonetheless on fight “Destination Anywhere” Patrick had the time of his life. Which reminds of that song “Time of my life ” in the movie Dirty Dancing starring Patrick Swayze who we named Patrick after.
It’s funny when you tell stories how eventually all things merge into one and a Patrick runs through. Those words were just taken and twisted from the movie “A River Runs Through it” — As you can see this is going to be a very A.D.D. kind of Sunday.
Remember friends, Sunday is our favorite day of the week. Its the one morning we let imagination in the door and back into our lives. On Sundays we get to be us again, the people we set out to be from the very beginning.
Like Father, Like Son
Good morning friends.
It’s great to be here with everyone. Another gift life offers us today. Happy Life Day. Henry is illustrating a depiction of where the slogan; Like Father, Like Son came from.
I have to give Henry “The Soldier of Love” a lot of credit, in the midst of his loyalty and regal presence, he still finds the time for a little sense of humor.
Happy Saturday. See you tonight.
