Happy Birthday Sammy

Sammy turns 10 years old

Good morning friends.

We want to wish a Happy Birthday to Sammy, Deb Tsoi, Jessi Mantay and Stacy Shack.  #GoPisces.

It’s a very special day for Sammy & Family.  Sammy turns 10 years old today.  We wish him a fantastic day and many more birthdays to come.  I am going to share a little story of Sammy & I now.

So in 2004 I had a break up after a 5 year relationship.  I Was pretty down and out to say the least.  A few months later a friend of mine introduced me to this young gal from out of town.  Much younger then me, normally I never rolled that way.  But like I said, I was pretty down those days. Point being, I said to my friend, sure why not.  Turns out the young gal and I to some degree hit it off and went with it.  Within in a few months, she said to me, I saw a dog today on 13th street and 6th avenue and I want to bring him home.  Having grown up with dogs, I said absolutely yes.    Continue reading

Happy Animals Club in the Southern Philippines

Good morning friends.

Today we take a journey to the Southern Philippines where the heart of a 9 year old boy named Ken grabbed the attention of the world for his care of stray animals.  When i contacted Ken’s family to run the story, they were really gracious about it.  I’m grateful for that.

Some people have a kinship with animals and it can start very young. That has sure been the case with Ken. He frequently would take food outside to attend to the strays. Looking after all these strays started to become costly and took up a lot of time. Ken Knew he needed help.

So 9 year old Ken took it upon himself to draw a little poster to get people to donate to his cause. From his little poster, to pictures of him feeding strays on the street, to his dad posting a few pictures on the internet, Ken’s story went viral all over the world. From there donations started piling in.

Nasdaq 5000 and Sammy & Family 15 Years in the Making

The Nasdaq 5000 and Sammy & Family's Journey

Good evening friends.

Today was an historic day on Wall Street. The Nasdaq Composite went over 5000 for the first time since March of 2000. Please take a walk back with me 15 years ago. This is the origin of why Sammy & Family went into Social Media in 2010.

After years of being an assistant trader, I had finally been at the right place at the right time. I traded a lot of technology stocks from 1995 to 1999 with one of the largest private companies on Wall Street.  Now if you remember in the late 1990’s, the dot.com frenzy started and got so out of control that even Fed Chairman Greenspan warned of ” Irrational Exuberance”

Nonetheless the Nasdaq kept climbing feverishly in price through 1999 and all the way until March of 2000. Individual stocks were rallying 50 to 100 points a day. I was trading the craziest technology stocks through the biggest tech boom in history.   Continue reading

The World According to Puppy

The Adventures of the one and only Puppy.

Puppy is a Boston Terrier stuffie. Yes, a stuffie, who has had some pretty pawsum experiences; Bryan Cranston once pulled his ears, he was honored with AKC puppy award, he was a Calvin Klein model, he rode a pup-sized jet-ski. Really! He’s a cheeky guy and is very photogenic. Puppy loves traveling, good noms, making crafts and having adventures. He shares pawsitivity, love and humor with his all animal and human QTs. If you need to BOL, he’s got you covered. (That’s Barking Out Loud..)  Keep scrolling down, much more pictures and blurbs.  A must See.

Dream Catcher by Natasha Cassar

Dream Catcher Natasha

To fulfill a dream is one of the most important experiences of our lives. After all, what is all this about? Why are we here? To live in a routine? I don’t  know about you, but I cannot live like this. So, I live to realize my dreams. But for me, also and just as important, is to help fulfill the dreams of other people. And that’s what I came here to share with you.

Here in Brazil, I am part of a social project called “Sonhando Juntos” (in English: Dreaming Together). We are a group of volunteers who, once a month, spends three, to four hours in public hospitals working with children in cancer treatment, among other life-threatening illnesses. Here’s the FB link to that page; https://www.facebook.com/sonhandojuntos

We have the following goals: to bring education, recreation, entertainment, and lots of joy, love and attention to our little warriors. We are also the ears the shoulders for the families of the children, because children are hospitalized for a long time in hospital, and their families need friends. The work is extremely enriching and rewarding.  Volunteers feel a strong sense of purpose.

Our true goal, through the activities which we apply with the kids, is find out what are their big dreams and desires. What matters to us is not material, we don’t want to identify what are the toys that they like. We are hunters of unforgettable moments!  So we identified through drawings, jokes and conversations which are theirs desires, and once discovered, we have assembled a team to accomplish, by surprise, a great moment.

Dream Catcher Natasha

Sometimes we have very little time. There have been dreams where the child couldn’t be have from hospital, and his dream was to be a fireman, so we had to take a group of firefighters to the hospital for the boy know them, and live this experience. Shortly thereafter, he passed away, but the feeling that made their last moments on earth being special is unforgettable.

We also have many moments of joy, because some kids are cured and we can make your dreams come true outside the hospital, like going to the zoo, walking through Rio de Janeiro, going to the movies, go to a ballet, or cook with a famous cuisine chef and etc. Some of these dreams are basic programs for us, but for these low-income children, facing so many difficulties with their families, it is a big thing.
Dream Catcher Natasha
This project transforms lives.

What I’ve learned: to be grateful, to be positive, to dream big, to identify what is good, even in moments of grief, giving more value for every single moment of my life, giving more value to each person, not to judge the error of the people, to be simple, to be a friend, to be resilient, to be loyal, to be devoted, to be helpful. I learned to give each hug goodbye as a real hug. A full-body hug, from soul to soul. When you deal with death, you learn what is worthwhile in life. And, of course, embrace people is one of the things most worth in this crazy thing that is live. Please make some favors for you: learn to give a real hug, learn to look deeply into the eyes. Learn to be grateful, even with those who harmed you — at least you learned to be stronger. Learn to say “no” — learn this, is the greatest proof of love to yourself, and it’s liberating! As wonderful as dancing in the rain of summer.

Working with children in hospitals is not an activity that everyone can. But, there are other ways to volunteer. When you donate to someone, the biggest beneficiary is yourself. Your soul is always smiling. OK, working in hospital often can harden you, anyway, you learn to be stronger. But nothing that a photo of the smiling Sammy can’t reverse.

Here in Brazil there is a saying; “you can learn through love or through pain” —  For me, no matter how you learned (or will learn) to give more value to life, what matters is you make love a verb. When you make love a verb, you learn to love yourself, learn to love people, learn to love life.

I wish all good things in the world for you!
